Over the last few years, oil shale has constantly been in the news. It has always been associated with terms such as 'limited resources', 'expensive extraction', 'higher price than conventional oil' and so on. However, all this is set to change and oil derived from oil shale is likely to contribute to our fuel security in the coming years. The oil industry eagerly awaits a new era in oil extraction, all thanks to the launch of powerful industrial pressure washers by Daimer®.
So What Is Oil Shale?
Deposition of organic residues and silt on ocean beds and river beds over millions of years leads to the formation of sedimentary rocks containing kerogen or solid bituminous deposits. Since oil shale usually contains high oil content, it will readily burn without any kind of processing. For this reason, these rocks of oil shale are also referred to as 'rocks that burn'. When these rocks are subject to high temperatures through a process termed as pyrolysis, oil is released. Now experts have proven that hot pressure washer machines can be effectively used to shoot down steam at high temperatures down into oil wells. The pressurized steam generated by the pressure washing equipment helps separate oil from shale for easier extraction.
Current Stand On Oil Shale
Geographical research shows that many nations around the world have considerable reserves of oil shale that remain untapped due to lack of economical drilling technologies. The latest drilling technique using hot water pressure washers will definitely open up new opportunities to boost oil production. In fact, the shale oil extraction technique is expected to increase oil production in the U.S. by at least 20 percent in the next five years.
While many countries have been using oil shale as fuel in small quantities, these countries do not actually produce the oil on a commercial scale. Due to the extremely high costs associated with extracting usable oil from oil shale, the price of oil obtained from oil shale has always been considerably higher than the price of conventionally derived oil. The need for commercial feasibility of oil inhibited the expansion of innovative machinery capable of possibly reducing the extraction costs. That is until experts discovered new techniques of drilling and oil extraction using the capabilities of high pressure washer systems to generate super-hot steam at high pressure levels.
Extracting Oil From Oil Shale
Until the advent of steam pressure washer systems, the extraction of oil from oil shale was more expensive and complex, as compared to conventional oil extraction techniques. Since the oil deposits in oil shale are in their solid state, it cannot directly be pumped out from oil wells. The oil shale needs to be mined before it is heated to high temperatures. The oil released during heating must then be cleared from debris and collected separately. Now power cleaners simplify this extraction technique by eliminating the mining step and pumping down steam to heat the oil shale located underground. The liquid released during the process is then pumped to the surface.
It is important to note that these pressure cleaning systems no not work as oily floor cleaning machines to eliminate the oil and grease deposits on oil rigs and machinery. Separate equipment is needed for that purpose. High temperatures generated by the oily surface cleaners help dissolve the toughest deposits of oil on floors, walls, and machinery to ensure cleaner and safer working environment. Oiled floor cleaners also ensure a completely eco-friendly cleaning technique.
